Faslab Sistem Digital merupakan salah satu fasilitas laboratorium di Departemen Teknik Elektro dan Teknologi Informasi, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Fasilitas Laboratorium ini mendukung pelaksanaan Tridharma Pendidikan Tinggi sesuai Renstra dan Renop. Faslab Sistem Digital digunakan untuk mendukung penelitian bidang sistem digital dan pengolahan isyarat.

Ada beberapa topik penelitian yang dilaksanakan di Faslab ini.

Inovasi Sistem Cerdas Pengenalan Identitas. Topik ini menyelenggarakan beberapa penelitian yang bertujuan mengembangkan sistem cerdas pengenalan identitas berbasis biometrik untuk memperkuat keamanan dan ketahanan nasional melalui autentikasi yang lebih akurat dan andal. Sistem ini memanfaatkan biometrik multimodal—meliputi analisis wajah, pola pergerakan bibir, karakteristik suara, serta biometrik berbasis USG—yang diproses menggunakan kecerdasan buatan dan machine learning sehingga mampu mengenali identitas individu secara presisi dalam berbagai kondisi. Pendekatan ini diharapkan meningkatkan keandalan verifikasi identitas, meminimalkan risiko pemalsuan, dan mendukung pengembangan infrastruktur keamanan digital nasional. Dari penelitian-penelitian ini, dihasilkan publikasi-publikasi dalam seminar internasional dan jurnal ilmiah bereputasi sebagai kontribusi keilmuan di bidang biometrika dan teknologi keamanan

Pengolahan Isyarat Untuk Pelestarian Budaya (Signal Processing for Cultural Preservation). Grup penelitian ini mengembangkan pendekatan ilmiah berbasis teknologi—khususnya pengolahan isyarat digital—untuk merekam dan merepresentasikan warisan budaya Nusantara secara akurat, baik auditif, visual, maupun fisik. Melalui inisiatif ini, berbagai tradisi budaya didokumentasikan dan dihadirkan kembali dalam format digital yang adaptif, mudah diakses, dan selaras dengan perkembangan teknologi modern. Beragam kegiatan penelitian telah dilakukan, mulai dari digitalisasi instrumen musik tradisional, pemodelan bunyi gamelan, analisis gerak untuk rekonstruksi tari, hingga preservasi motif batik berbasis visi komputer. Dari aktivitas tersebut, grup penelitian ini telah menghasilkan sejumlah prototype perangkat keras dan perangkat lunak, termasuk sistem digitalisasi dan pemodelan gamelan sebagai salah satu keluaran utama.

The Digital Systems Laboratory (Faslab Sistem Digital) is one of the laboratory facilities within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This laboratory supports the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in accordance with the university’s strategic and operational plans. It serves as a research environment dedicated to the advancement of digital systems and signal processing.

Several research topics are conducted within this faslab.

Innovation in Intelligent Identity Recognition Systems. This research theme encompasses several studies aimed at developing intelligent, biometric-based identity recognition systems to enhance national security and resilience through more accurate and reliable authentication. The systems utilize multimodal biometrics—encompassing facial analysis, lip-movement patterns, voice characteristics, and ultrasound-based biometric signals—processed using artificial intelligence and machine learning to achieve precise identification under various conditions. This approach is expected to improve verification reliability, reduce the risk of identity fraud, and support the development of national digital-security infrastructure. Research under this theme has produced publications in international conferences and reputable scientific journals, contributing to the fields of biometrics and security technologies.

Signal Processing for Cultural Preservation. This research group develops technology-based scientific approaches—particularly digital signal processing—to record and represent Indonesia’s cultural heritage accurately in auditory, visual, and physical forms. Through this initiative, various traditional cultural expressions are documented and digitally reconstructed in formats that are adaptive, accessible, and aligned with modern technological developments. Research activities include the digitalization of traditional musical instruments, modeling the acoustic characteristics of gamelan, motion analysis for dance reconstruction, and the preservation of batik patterns using computer vision techniques. These efforts have resulted in a range of hardware and software prototypes, including a digitalization and modeling system for gamelan instruments as one of the group’s key outputs.
